从法眼三祖到净土六祖：永明延寿形象演变 From His Roles as the Third Patriarch of the Fayan School of Chan Buddhism to the Sixth Patriarch of Pure Land Buddhism: A Study of the Transformation of the Image of Yongming Yanshou

Abstract

永明延寿的形象经历了从早期隐遁禅僧逐步转变为法眼三祖禅宗祖师，又被后人形塑为净土六祖莲宗祖师之形象演变历程。本文从思想史与社会史相结合的角度，对永明延寿形象及其演变过程进行研究，论文所称的“永明延寿形象”主要是指法眼三祖形象和净土六祖形象。
本文采取文献调查法和历史研究法，通过比对宋元明清历代留下的三十七种延寿传记文献，具体分析了延寿从法眼三祖到净土六祖的形象特征样貌之演变，以及影响形象演变之因素，试图总结出传记中形塑延寿形象的法则和规律。

The image of Yongming Yanshou underwent a progressive transformation from his early period as a reclusive Chan monk to later becoming the third patriarch of the Fayan Chan lineage, and then subsequently, through the shaping of his image by later generations, becoming the sixth patriarch of the Pure Land school. This paper aims to study the image of Yongming Yanshou and its evolution from the combined perspectives of intellectual and social history. The “Image of Yongming Yanshou” cited in this paper mainly refers to his image as both the third patriarch of the Fayan lineage and the sixth patriarch of the Pure Land school.
This paper adopts the documentary and historical research method, and through the comparisons of thirty-seven types of biographies of Yongming Yanshou from past dynasties, specifically analyses the characteristics of the image of Yongming Yanshou as well as the factors that influenced the evolution of his image. An attempt is also made to summarize the principles and patterns surrounding the shaping of his image contained in the biographies.
