管窥二战前后砂华民族主义精神一辅以吴岸诗歌为例 Exploring the Essence of Nationalism of Sarawak Chinese Community Before and After World War Two

Abstract

砂拉越华人一直没有放弃建构本身文化和民族的重任，由此也建构出砂拉越华人独有的开阔式民族主义。作为砂华文学的先行者，诗人吴岸数十年如一日的文字耕耘在整个民族主义建构过程中，有着特殊的意义。吴岸早期的诗歌实践就已经充分表现现实主义的书写传统，他积极参与社会运动所积累的经验和颠簸遭遇的深刻感受也孕育了他的民族主义精神。从《盾上的诗篇》到《达邦树礼赞》，间隔二十年的诗集以诗的文字陪同历史记录下上个世纪后半期砂拉越华入的心路历程。本文尝试结合历史演进的剖析和辅以文学书写的解读，探讨民族主义在砂拉越华人族群中的传承与嬗变的价值与意义。

Never forsaking the responsibility of developing their culture and identity, Sarawak Chinese have instead evolved their own open-style nationalism. In this connection, the pioneer poet Wu An occupies a special place in this process of evolving Chinese nationalism. His early works reflect a sense of realism and his awareness of nationalism was nurtured by his active involvement in social movements. His poetic writings spanning over 20 years portray the historical path of Sarawak Chinese in the latter half of the last century. By analysing this historical development from an interpretation of literary works, this study examines the value and meaning of the concept of nationalism among Sarawak Chinese.
