传承与建构──华人文化调适的研究思路 Ideas for the Research on Chinese Cultural Adaptation

Abstract

战后华人文化的传承与变迁，是一个建立新的文化模式的过程。学界花了不少心力在谈论华人文化的持续、同化、涵化、融合等问题，但是，我们更需关注的是其文化调适的程度问题，华人社会如何进行其既本土化又具有现代性意义的文化调适。华人文化的传承与建构，不能忽略在地国家政策的制约和干预因素，必须正视不同地区华人社会内部复杂的差异性和其独特性的历史渊源，以及政治经济和世界思潮的考虑。

After World War II, Overseas Chinese in different countries have in many ways preserved and reinvented Chinese culture, and at the same time created new cultural models. Most researchers have been focusing on how Chinese communities preserved their culture as they went through adjustment, acculturation and assimilation. However, we should pay more attention to the degree of their cultural adaptation—how Chinese communities in different countries have reshaped their culture by adding in local elements. To discuss the cultural preservation of Chinese communities, we must take account of the influence of policies implemented in their respective countries, the differences between various Chinese communities, socio-political issues of different countries and dominant ideologies in the world.
